Extra Duty Hourly Rates (Exhibit H, fixed 2024β2029): BA Degree = $45.69/hr Β· MA Degree = $50.15/hr Β· Non-Instructional = $32.97/hr. These apply to curriculum writing, after-school meetings, lost prep periods, and extra services. Northampton differentiates by degree β unique among regional districts.
Article II β Health Insurance Opt-Out (p. 6β7):
"Eligible Employees may opt out of the District's medical insurance plan... to receive cash in lieu of coverage... they may elect to waive coverage for the calendar year and receive a monthly cash payment of $400 in lieu of the district medical plan... Employees will have the annual option to enroll in the District's medical insurance plan each December with coverage effective January 1 of the subsequent year."
Article VI β Early Retirement Benefits (p. 9):
"The District agrees to reimburse the retiree for up to $45,000. These funds shall be used at the discretion of the retiree for the sole purpose of medical benefit premium costs. Premiums paid by the retiree shall be reimbursed quarterly from their account upon presentation of paid receipts."

"BA Degree: $45.69 Β· MA Degree/Master's Equivalency: $50.15 Β· Non-Instructional: $32.97"

Article XII β School Day & After-School Meetings (p. 17β18):
"Teachers being directed to attend an afterschool meeting that is contiguous with the end of the school day will be compensated at the hourly rate stipulated in Exhibit H... Meetings that occur within 30 minutes of the end of the regularly scheduled teacher day are considered to be contiguous."
Article I β Salary Schedule Notes (note h, all years):
"There shall be no additional remuneration for special education teachers." This is explicitly stated in the notes for each year's salary schedule (Exhibits AβE).
Article V β Severance Pay (p. 8):
"After twenty (20) years of service in the Northampton Area School District... the District will pay the employee $90.00 for each day of accumulated sick leave credited to the individual's account. Payment shall be made in a lump sum into a 403(b) plan."

Who this applies to: Northampton teachers hired before the 2024β2029 contract who remain on the legacy 25-step salary schedule. This schedule is not available to new hires β all teachers hired after the 2024 contract year start on the 15-step schedule above. The grandfathered schedule allows existing staff to continue advancing until they reach Step 25.

Context for Negotiations: The grandfathered $152,739 top salary represents what Northampton values experienced teachers at β even if new hires can never reach it under the current contract structure. The new hire contract tops out at $112,287 by 2028-29 (M+45, Step 15). Grandfathered salary data is sourced from the Pennsylvania Department of Education salary data for active Northampton staff; the schedule was in effect prior to the 2024β2029 CBA.
